Pillars of Creation Movie Poster2

The beauty of God the Father

god-the-father2The beauty of God the Father is unparalleled, seen with the eyes of the soul, and it is impossible to put into words. But a tiny fraction of that beauty can be seen externally all around us. It can be seen in the flowers, the trees, the animals on earth, in the sky, and underwater; the clouds in the heavens and the soil on earth. Yes, even the dirt of the earth can be beautiful when seen through the light of the Holy Spirit.

Many in this post-Christian day and age, however, categorically refuse to see, listen, and comprehend. They consider everything that happens in a natural manner, even grace, eschewing creation and foreclosing its Creator. The Almighty Father continues to love them, despite their rejection of Him and their mockery of His people. He never ceases to desire their return into the only home that we can really call Home, the safety of His bosom.

On beauty and the world

Now is the time to portray beauty in actions and in art, not in words. For as the world descends increasingly and unfailingly into darkness and despair, it is beauty, not words, that is going to give hope to humankind and light up the path to Him Who is Beauty, Hope and Light; thus saving and restoring our dying world to the fullness of grace.

The beauty of God

Just take a moment to look at the blue sky and marvel at its pristine beauty, together with the slowly moving clouds and the singing birds, and you will get a small glimpse of the immeasurable and unverbalisable beauty of the One, True God.

Icons manifest the existence of God

God adorns Himself in magnificence and clothes Himself with beauty. Man stands amazed and contemplates the glory whose light causes a hymn of praise to burst forth from the heart of every creature. The Testamentum Domini gives us the following prayer:

Let them be filled with the Holy Spirit . . . so they can sing a doxology and give you praise and glory forever.

An icon is the same kind of doxology but in a different form. It radiates joy and sings the glory of God in its own way. True beauty does not need proof. The icon does not prove anything; it simply lets true beauty shine forth. In itself, the icon is shining proof of God’s existence, according to a kalokagathic argument – Paul Evdokimov, The Art of the Icon: A Theology of Beauty.

On beauty

Beauty portrays love because all beauty comes from God the Father – Ineffable Beauty Himself.

On iconography

“The iconographer’s vision belongs to her person, her time, to human vision, to our history, to humanity… ultimately to language and art, to logos and eikon. When she paints, she stands in the midst of all the iconographers that ever lived, her hand and theirs draws a line as it has always be drawn” (C. Tsakiridou, 2014).

Beauty – A thought

The beauty of the day, the chirping of the birds, the warmth of the sun and the clear, blue sky. A small example of the tender love and goodness of the Father for his all children on earth. Ever considered that?

The beauty of God

Timelessness is beautiful: such love, order and peace. If only we all knew what God fully intended us to be and how to live.

Beauty is not in the eye of the beholder but in the re-opened heart of our soul.
